Exceptional parks and gardens labelled by the French Ministry of Culture
Created in 2004 by the French Ministry of Culture, the "Jardin Remarquable" (Remarkable Garden) label distinguishes public or private gardens and parks of outstanding cultural, aesthetic, historical or botanical value. The label is awarded for five renewable years following evaluation by a regional committee.
To receive the label, a garden must meet strict criteria: remarkable plant composition and volumes, proven historical or landscape interest, careful maintenance and public safety. Castles bearing this label offer a dual experience: historic architecture combined with the beauty of gardens maintained according to the great traditions of French horticulture.
